Situated under the Fitness Factory gym, Grand Slam is Kaohsiung's answer to the demand for an all-day breakfast restaurant. This new baseball-themed eatery has been a favorite for breakfast dining since its opening earlier this year.
The inviting interior is decked out in sports banners and paraphernalia from the New York Yankees to the Chicago Cubs. The atmosphere is cozy with comfy couches to lounge on while watching a game on the TV, and newspapers to peruse on a lazy Sunday morning. Or, if it's a beautiful day, enjoy your meal on the patio outside.
Since its initial opening, Grand Slam has changed its menu to include more dinner oriented options amidst the breakfast items. The revamped menu touts breakfast staples as well as dinner options. Traditional breakfast items include the Grand Slam Breakfast (NT$250) with two eggs, hash browns, ham/bacon, and toast, as well as the Grand Slam Breakfast Club Sandwich (NT$180), waffles with syrup or chocolate (NT$120), and French Toast (NT$120).
If breakfast isn't your fancy, try one of the meals, such as the Pasta with Meat Sauce (NT$200), Traditional English Fish and Chips (NT$350) or the delicious Beef Tenderloin (NT$400). For a more Asian flair, give the Fried Rice with vegetables, bacon or seafood (NT$180-190) a try. For a healthier meal, check out the salads. The Seasonal Salad (NT$100) is a fresh option, or give the heartier Caesar Salad (NT$150) or the Potato Salad (NT$120) a try.
All the meals are served together with coffee, tea or Coke. If you prefer something sweeter, ask for the Juice Factory menu. You can choose many combinations of fresh seasonal fruit mixed with yogurt, green tea and milk. Prices range from NT$60 to NT$100. Of course, you can always go with a very rich and creamy milkshake such as Oreo for NT$120.
