If you're enjoying a nice stroll beneath the shade next to Hetii Park, then why not duck into Morning Cafe? Besides a lovely riverside view, this little eatery also offers great food in a relaxing atmosphere. When you walk in the door, you'll be greeted by a graffiti-adorned wall and the overpowering aroma of coffee. The shop is furnished and decorated with simplicity, giving people a place to dine in comfort.
Besides offering breakfast, lunch and dinner, they also provide afternoon tea; NT$98 gets you get a pastry--waffles, pastries, assorted sandwiches, cakes, or biscuits--and a beverage. The chefs change their vegetable selection with the seasons here, so the menu is always evolving. Current great dishes include the Crispy Chicken Drumstick with Rice (NT$135); its crispy skin matches perfectly with the juicy, tender leg meat within. Besides the main dish and beverage, the meal comes with soup, as well as a salad or dessert--not a bad deal for NT$135.
Their Tomato Beef Noodle Soup (NT$135) is made with fresh tomatoes and tangy noodles; you can add some Chinese pickled cabbage for an excellent finish. In addition, the cafe also offers various flavored hot pots and fried rice dishes.
Heti Milk Tea is the drink of choice for practically every customer here; the black tea leaves are fragrant and have a taste that goes down smooth and easy. While mentioning fragrance and taste, it's probably wise to mention their Passion Fruit Juice; made with fresh fruit, it's hard not to fall in love with the flavor.
The scenery at Morning Cafe is wonderful, the coffees is strong, and a filling meal is less than NT$200. With a combination like this, it's difficult to find a better place at which to spend a long Saturday afternoon.
