The new Midtown Bagel Café is the perfect complement to its sister establishment and neighbor, Terrace Fine Foods. Open for about a month, Midtown serves quality Western food in a modern, trendy and friendly environment. They have a plethora of bagel choices (NT$40 each), from French Onion and Sun-Dried Tomato to exotic Bavarian Dark and more. Choose a creamy spread (NT$30-40) from choices such as Onion & Chive, Maple Walnut or Blueberry, and you’re set. They serve an impressive breakfast set (NT$165) that includes your choice of toast, a bagel or pancakes, two eggs, sausage, ham or bacon, green salad, fresh fruit, coffee, juice and potato wedges. Their sandwiches are well-made and range from the simple but tasty Ham & Cream Cheese (NT$100) to the Gigantic Sirloin Steak Chapata (NT$280). Rounding off their menu are pastas, big salads and some fresh smoothies. --Text by Sean Cooper, translated by Ann Lee, photos by Colin Brown
