Chef Ah-Shin (Chen Wei-shin), who started out operating a Japanese vendor stand in a traditional market, considers it a privilege to now run this restaurant, offering reasonably-priced dishes made with his experience and skills. Customers sitting at the Capri-style table in front of the semi-open kitchen can focus their attention on a black stone platter where the chef presents his creative dishes–such as juicy amberjack belly, curly shrimp, and fresh Penghu abalone–served in a sequence of light to rich flavors. Handmade with passion, the abundant plates of sashimi and sushi, topped with sparkling salmon roe, grilled salmon, fresh wasabi sauce and other ingredients, help put big smiles on diners’ faces and delight epicures.
Handmade sushi options (NT$80-320) and grilled items (from NT$60) are among reasonably-priced menu selections, while the high-end hot pot choices such as Ishikari Nabe Hotpot and Japanese Wagyu Beef Hotpot (NT$520-1,380) are worth trying. Salmon and Raw Egg Donburi, and Uni Donburi (NT$320-680) are prepared with fresh live seafood from the restaurant tank.
Non-menu dishes allow customers to further enjoy the combination of the freshest ingredients and the chef’s cookery. A Customized Set Meal (from NT$1,280) includes about 10 dishes, such as Sashimi, Cherry Duck Salad, Sashimi Sushi Combo, Seasonal Fish, Diced Beef Cubes, and Hiroshima Oyster. Customers can also enjoy the Deluxe Banquet Table for 10 people (from NT$10,000). –By Niang Chen Translated by Anna Yang
