Under the guidance of Italian chef/owner Valerio Franchi, Bella Roma is one of the best places to savor traditional Italian cuisine in Taichung. You can do this not only through its menu of select dishes but also via special weekly offers that ensure there’s always something new to try during a visit.
As walk in, you’re welcomed by the aromas of a busy kitchen and the friendly greetings of the staff. The cozy atmosphere includes seating both inside and outside along a picturesque walkway. What makes Bella Roma stand out is its high-quality ingredients, many imported from Italy by the owner, as well as the fact that almost everything is handmade from scratch.
While the Bella Roma Pizza (NT$300) is the most popular pizza offering here, the Diavola (NT$280) has a nice spicy kick ending with comforting tomato and mozzarella flavors that you will love. The Truffle Pasta (NT$350) is a rare delight, as are the weekly specials like Parmigiana (NT$300) with baked mushrooms slathered in tomato sauce and gooey mozzarella. The restaurant also has some delicious Panuozzo sandwiches (NT$200-280) made with freshly baked focaccia bread that offers the right blend of crunchy and soft textures.
Upgrade any of the pasta dishes with homemade fettucine noodles for NT$50 and don’t forget desert. The Tiramisu (NT$50-60) can be enjoyed either plain or infused with fresh fruit from local farmers.
