Big Nine, a medium-sized
place on the corner of Ching Cheng and Hsiang Shang South roads,
is currently one of the only eateries in town to sample authentic
Vietnamese 'Pho', or rice noodles. The noodles come with a variety
of ingredients, such as beef, bean sprouts and basil leaves, which
should all be mixed in and allowed to cook a while in the broth.
There is an illustrated menu to help non-Chinese-speakers to select
and most noodles are around a very reasonable NT$100 to NT$120 per
bowl. To round off the experience, there is the Vietnamese-style
coffee--thick black java mixed with condensed milk for NT$80.
