Bonappetit

This cozy little Italian restaurant is almost directly opposite the National Museum of Natural Science's Bo Guan Road main entrance. The two owners, Mr. Huang and head chef Mr. Chen, both come out of the hotel industry and Chen's experience includes Western cooking experience at the Evergreen Laurel and The Landis hotels. This explains the unusually good selection of tasty, filling and attractively-presented dishes, all for extremely reasonable prices. Most main courses are pastas and include items like a spicy Tomato and Seafood Spaghetti (NT$200), Penne with Scallop and Dill (NT$160), Cannelloni Stuffed with Meat (NT$220), Smoked Salmon with Lasagne (NT$240), and Pork and Roasted Polenta and Tomato with Tangerine Sauce. There are side dishes, like the Insalata Caprese (tomato and mozzarella), and a NT$120 afternoon (2-5 p.m.) teatime special with dessert, fruit and drink. The cafe-like setting has seating for about 45, including outdoor tables. Be sure and check out the spacious, pleasant upstairs area, with its big picture window and larger tables.
