Located on the third floor of Taichung Central mall, Sunthai's Thai restaurant is what used to be The Attap Hut. The owners (who also run Sunday's restaurant upstairs) have completely changed this 140-seat place into an all-you-can-eat Thai eatery, complete with striking new decor. In keeping with its "American-style" theme, the colors are bright and the layout is open, spacious and bistro-like, with casually-dressed waiters. The cost is NT$268/adult and NT$168/child for weekday lunches, and NT$328/adult and NT$188/child for dinner (after 5:30 pm) and all day on holidays. Diners may order various dishes from the menu and can continue ordering as they need to. Tasty dishes include Sliced Green Papaya Salad, Stewed Chicken with Coconut Milk and Curry, Steamed Lemon Fish, Sauteed Pork with Hot Chilis, and Deep-Fried Chicken with Curry Sauce. Sodas, iced or hot tea and coffee, as well as vegetable salad, shrimp chips and tubs of frangrant imported, steamed Thai rice are also free. Additional NT$90 beers, NT$40 Bangkok Milk Tea, and desserts can be ordered at extra cost. --By Douglas Habecker, translated by Jean Huang
