Located just around the corner from the Taichung World Trade
Center, the Bany Thai Restaurant is another great option for
cheap Thai eats on the hill. The menu is extensive and the
flavors are authentically Thai. Simple wooden tables and stools,
combined with the essential photo of the King of Thailand,
give the distinct feeling of a street-side restaurant in small-town
Siam. The Green Chicken Curry for NT$150 is truly a spicy
delight. The Tom Yum soup is chock-full of shrimp and has
that characteristically warming lemon grass flavor. It is
large and served hotpot-style for NT$300. Also on offer is
the beach-lovers staple--the Spicy Papaya Salad--for a very
affordable NT$50. In addition, the restaurant has many grocery
items for sale including sauces, spices, curry pastes, chilies,
and other ingredients to cook your favorite Thai meals at
home.
