According to the female owner of this place,
the name Canaan Garden comes from the book of Exodus in the
Bible, where Canaan is described as a land of milk and honey.
The story of this small hot pot restaurant's success is a
bit like the story of the Exodus as well, with a difficult
start but a happy ending. In the beginning, there were less
than eight customers per day. Now, however, the place is packed
every night and reservations are a must. This is the result
of the owner's hard work. The small single-person hot pot
is certainly delicious and all-you-can-eat with over 80 different
ingredients to choose from. A seemingly endless supply of
fresh Australian beef, mutton and chicken as well as shrimp,
fish, shellfish, clams, vegetables and homemade minced squid
are available. Lunch is NT$250, and dinner and holiday meals
are NT$299. There are all-you-can-drink Cokes and other bottled
soft drinks in the fridge, and diners can enjoy a coffee or
green bean soup after their meal together with one of their
homemade desserts. The hot pots here may not look all that
spectacular, but hot pot connoisseurs will know the difference
when the food arrives. |
