The owner of this restaurant, Mr. Cai, is
a certified and government-recognized goat's meat cuisine
chef. Originally operating a Mutton Pot restaurant for years
in the south, he relocated to Taichung in recent years. The
soup base here is dark in color, giving the illusion that
the flavors are strong. However, upon trying it, diners find
the flavors surprisingly smooth and light. Especially when
ginger shreds are added, there is hardly any medicinal aftertaste,
either. Mr. Cai is very proud of his Mutton Pot (NT$250) and
claims that it caters to everyone's tastes, old and young
alike, so that even pregnant women enjoy it. It is believed
that mutton itself already has medicinal benefits. With the
Chinese herbs that are added, to enhance the taste and reduce
the meat odors, one must be careful not to overindulge in
its medicinal qualities. Prices here are reasonable. Even
during a period when spring onion prices not fluctuating a
great deal, Mr. Cai insists that his ingredients not be compromised
in any way, and continues to serve his customers with only
the best quality. Mutton Soup, Goat Offal Soup, Goat Ribs
Soup and Goat Bones Soup are all NT$60. Mutton with Noodles
is served with either soup or dry noodles for only NT$30.
Set menus are also available for NT$2,000 or more per table
and are great for parties big or small. |
