Taichung's already well-known Mimi's Steak House has opened a branch on the trendy Art Street (YiShu Street) near Tunghai University, so that customers in the area no longer have to trudge all the way downtown for high-quality, affordable steak. The restaurant has first and second floor seating as well as basement VIP rooms. The retro European-style decor includes wooden floors and red drapes. Adventurous diners may try the 10-percent-cooked steak, only slightly pan-fried to lock in the juices, then placed on a high-temperature hotplate covered with crushed garlic. Eat this steak without any garnish or sauces to enjoy its original flavor which, together with its tenderness, hooks many customers. The Luncheon Special is NT$380, a satisfying meal with soup of the day, bread, salad and a main course selection, including New Zealand Chilled Fillet Steak (6oz.), Garlic Chicken Thigh Steak, Pan Fried Cod Fish and Selected Pork Ribs. The meal also comes with dessert, drink and fruit. More expensive items are also on offer as a set meal, such as the Salmon in Garlic Cream Sauce (NT$560), Lobster and Steak Set Menu (NT$720), Lamb Steak or Rib Eye Fillet Steak (NT$880) and An Lan Cuisine for NT$2,880.
