Herb House, a new vegetarian restaurant, is located along DaDun 5th Street and is owned by Min Lang Chen, who provides an eatery that is a treat for all of the senses. Chen, trained as a chef in England, prepares each dish as though it were a work of art, making it easy to forget that you are dining in Taichung and not at a quaint cafe in Paris. The three set-dinner menus are priced between NT$200 and NT$320 and come with soup (highly recommend is the pumpkin soup), salad, main course and drink. Some of the meals also come with French bread, a starter and dessert. The main courses include a delightful Bean Steak with Black Pepper Sauce, Baked Vegetables with Cheddar, and Stuffed Baked Sweet Pepper, to name a few. If one is not ordering a set menu, these entrees range from NT$120 to NT$180. There is also a Business Lunch Menu available between 11:30 a.m. and 2 p.m. The drink menu includes many different teas, coffees and juices, ranging from NT$50 to NT$120. With seating for about 40 inside and a few tables and a large wooden swing outside, Herb House is a truly enjoyable dining experience.
