It's been awhile since Taichung's seen any new Mexican dining options, Now, however, those heading up to the Science Park neighborhood can try out this new addition, which is already winning praise from Western and local diners for its tasty cuisine from "south of the border". Aztec--located along a rapidly-growing strip near the corner of XiTun and YuMen roads (opposite Taichung Steak House)--focuses on offering a wide variety of Mexican set meals--from five burrito/enchilada/fajita selections and various one-person sets (NT$190-300), to two NT$520 two-person sets and a popular four-person NT$1,155 meal. The latter includes five main dishes, salad, appetizer, soup and other items, while the single-person meals all include a soup and drink. Besides the standard coffees and soft drinks, there are NT$100 beers and mixed drinks, including Magaritas, Tequila Sunrise, and Mexican Cola (tequila and cola). With very bright yellow walls, green and red highlights, a small bar and 84 seats on two floors (including two private rooms upstairs), this sunny-feeling place is a perfect setting for some Tex-Mex cuisine. --By Douglas Habecker, translated by Ann Lee
