With comfortable big sofa chairs and high-ceilings, Big Bear stands out from other eateries in Taichung. Prior to working here, the chefs at Big Bear were employed at fancy hotels. At Big Bear, they aim to create healthy, exquisite cuisine, to achieve this. Using only organic vegetables and seasonal ingredients. Their exclusive Milan-style Beef Cutlet (米蘭式牛肉餅盅/NT$250) is a one-of-a-kind dish that looks like a pizza. It is made with beef slices, thyme and sage that are stir-fried with olive oil and combined with cheese. This dish is also available with seafood as the Milan-style Seafood Cutlet (米蘭式海鮮餅盅/NT$250), which is fresh seafood sauteed with onions and white wine. Also exclusive to Big Bear is a toast dish (NT$65-95) that is accompanied by assorted fresh fruit and ice cream, and sprinkled with honey to garnish; it is quite popular in Tokyo sake houses right now. --By Tammy Huang, translated by Ann Lee
