As its name hints, this cozy, little restaurant focuses on fusing different types of cuisine, namely Italian and Thai. The young but talented chef has used his previous experience at restaurants like Su Bau to good use, creating entrees like the Southeast Asian Curry vegetable, seafood or chicken toppings on spaghetti or penne pasta, rice or--for an extra NT$30--au gratin style. Similar offerings include variations on French cream sauces and a white-wine sauce, and prices for most entrees are a very reasonable NT$150-180 (with black or green tea). Other unique dishes include the Thai-style roast beef ribs, available with either red, yellow or green curry; the NT$90 vegetable salad with a choice of Thai, Italian red wine, Mexican or other dressings; and the Thai-Italian-style meatballs. It's best to call ahead to order their eight-inch, thin-crust pizzas. Drinks include beer and wine. Fusion 51 is located near DaYa Road on the parkway behind China Medical College Hospital, and has a Mediterranean-style ambiance with textured, bright-yellow walls, green ceilings, relaxing music and pleasant outside tables. --By Douglas Habecker, translated by Ann Lee
