Look out hot pot and BBQ, there's a new trend in the city--Zong Cai Ba Ba. This restaurant, which offers a great range of stir-fry dishes, hopes to expand this chain in different cities throughout the island--with a goal of 88 stores. The manager, Mr. Zan, owns a retail business, but his recent devotion to the eatery means waking up at the wee hours of the morning to visit the Taichung Harbor Fish Market and buy the day's supply of seafood. Zong Cai Ba Ba hires five-star hotel chefs who prepare mostly Shanghai and Sichuan-style delicacies. There are close to 100 made-to-order dishes, including appetizers, seafood, braised dishes, teppanyaki stir-fries, and grilled foods--each dish is only NT$99. There are also freshly-squeezed juices (2000cc/NT$30) and a daily NT$10 special. Steamed rice is all-you-can-eat, and you can even bring your own liquor without been charged extra. --By Ann Li, translated by Ann Lee
