Taiwanese-American Michael Lu, previous owner of the Samba Frozen Yogurt shop, now runs this charming restaurant cafe, offering a variety of Western meals, desserts and drinks. A menu highlight are eight types of submarine sandwiches (NT$198 with salad, fries and tea). The popular Beef Sub--pictured with a NT$88 Sunrise Orange Lemon Drink--features a burger-style beef/pork (70/30 ratio) patty topped with onions and melted mozzarella, packaged in soft, chewy French bread. Another unique option is a Sloppy Joe Sub.

Among the NT$198 pasta and risotto set meals is the Golden Chicken Pasta, prepared with chicken thigh meat.

Chubby's Kitchen is housed in a quaint-looking old villa a couple of lanes behind Chung Yo Department Store. Sunlight pours through glass walls to illuminate the light-colored interior, and there is outdoor seating in the little courtyard and an upstairs balcony area.
