Youthful owner Mr. Tseng has used his decade-plus of Japanese cooking experience to open this eatery in a traditional Fengyuan District market, thereby allowing diners to enjoy both his culinary skills and exquisite, reasonably-priced delicacies.
The chef/owner only serves the freshest seasonal ingredients and buys his seafood daily and directly from vendors. The result is impressive high-end, customized entrees with flexible prices also available. One entree invented by Mr. Tseng, "Spring Snow with Flower Donburi" (NT$300, available only by reservation), features fluffy, beaten egg whites and sauce on top of sushi rice, with the egg whites then toasted with fire and topped with fat, juicy salmon belly and roe. The mix of egg and strong salmon flavors is marvelously fragrant and fresh.
Another dish, "Premium Seafood Donburi", including salmon, swordfish, tuna and salmon roe, is only NT$250 while a six-piece sushi plate, prepared with a mix of fresh seafood and grilled fish, is NT$200.
Part of the enjoyable experience here is sitting and savoring delicacies that the owner just prepared on the other side of the counter, whether it's a NT$100 top-grade seven-piece sashimi plate or sea bream. Sashimi prices range from NT$100 to NT$180 and other menu selections include grilled sushi and sushi rolls (1-9 pieces, NT$80-320), donburi (NT$160-250), grilled fish (NT$70-500), and Japanese set meals (NT$130-230). |
