La mode is a French phrase that has been used
by many big brands. It is impossible to understand
how much hard work goes into producing a perfect
fashion show without experiencing what happens
behind the scenes.
Fashion
shows usually take place three months before
the season. In other words, while you are
still wearing your heavy winter coat, the
models are already wearing spring dresses
on stage. Every country will try to arrange
the show calendar so as to get as big an audience
as possible, and will try to avoid having
shows take place at the same time. The models
and the fashion magazine editors have the
toughest job, for they have to travel from
city to city, show to show in a short period
of time.
During
the show season, there's sometimes more than
ten shows in a single city. The worse thing
that can happen is to have all the major brands
in the same city at the same time, so the
city is packed with models and fashion writers.
It could be an interesting scene.
The
pre-show stage takes up most of the time and
effort. Creativity, choreography, designs,
and alterations. Meetings are held in a bid
to produce the best possible show, and have
everyone talk about it.
What
happens backstage has been a mystery for most
people. When models are on stage and under
the spotlight, you see the best of them. But
what do they do before they get to the stage?
The back stage is actually a very fast-paced
place, yet warm and full of fun. It's like
a party with dessert, champagne and music.
The designers are busy getting the pieces
ready for the models. Make-up artists and
hairdressers are busy making the models look
as wonderful as possible. Some models sit
in the corner reading, some chat while drinking
champagne. It might look relaxing, but when
they are cued to start, they have to give
the best performance they can. It has to be
perfect.
The
whole world is watching, eager to know what
the new trends will be. We should give credit
to the creative teams working behind the scenes,
who give the audience a perfect fashion show.!
