It's obvious that wedding photo studios are super-popular in Taiwan. However, there has never been a studio dedicated solely to dogs, until Shot Dog Photo Studio came along. Its first studio kicked off in Taipei four years ago and it now has branches in Taichung and Kaohsiung as well. Allen, general director of Shot Dog, says that, thanks to the increasing number of people who prefer to stay single, keeping a dog for company has become a trend, making relationships between dogs and people closer than ever. Walk into this shop and you'll see various accessory items emblazoned gorgeous dogs' photos, from key chains and puzzles to even a dog "ID card". In the basement, equipped with various settings for photo shoots, the photographers work hard to capture adorable poses from their canine subjects, using sweet talking, cookie bribes and, occasionally, some firmer persuasion as they occasionally deal with unruly, even aggressive, dogs. In addition to photographic expertise, the studio also can offer tips about keeping dogs healthy, collaborating with vets who specialize in Chinese herbal medicine and traditional treatments such as acupuncture. Having a 20-photo album made, depending on the size and material, will cost you from NT$5,999. If there was ever a creative new-year gift for a dog or its owner, this is it. --Written and translated by Sho Huang
