From the outside, the Avonlea Coffee Shop looks like a two-story
home taken from the set of Anne of Green Gables.
Inside, it definitely fits the romantic theme of this Valentine's
issue, with Victorian lamps on each of the tables, and lots of flowers,
etc.
Although it is a coffee shop by name, there seems
to be a greater selection of teas than of coffees. A pot of tea
ranges in price from NT$130-140. Choices include various fruit teas,
milk teas (French, hazelnut, and blueberry, etc.) and herb teas
(lavender, rose and English garden, etc.).Coffees range from NT$110-130
and include Blue Mountain, Godon Mandelin, Cappuccino, Espresso
and Latte.
If you are hungry, there are a variety of set meals that include
salad, soup, desert, fruit, tea or coffee for NT$180 (teriyaki chicken,
haddock, steak, spaghetti and pork chop are some of the choices).
Or, if you are craving something sweet, try the honey waffle, tiramisu,
cheesecake or fruit pie.
To get
to Avonlea, turn onto Guo Ji St. (International St.) from Taichung
Harbor Rd., then turn left onto (Yi Shu Street) Art Street.
There is a sign for this coffee shop on the corner.Then,
go about a block up Art Street.
