This attempt to create the Mother of All Taichung Teahouses is
the latest place to see and be seen, with its high-profile location
at the intersection of Taichung Kang, Kung Yi and Min Chuan roads.
Brightly-lit at night, the enormous establishment has about 100
tables on three floors inside and around lotus ponds and other outdoor
areas. The paper menus (in Chinese only) are on the tables to be
filled out and turned in, and include the usual variety of cold
and hot black, green, Oolong, milk, flower and fruit tea drinks,
starting at around NT$50 for a small (multiply prices by two for
medium and by three for large). There are also coffees and dozens
of teahouse-style snacks averaging NT$50. Meals include some noodles
and other Japanese and Chinese dishes. Limited parking is available
in a lot directly in front of the teahouse but this fills up quickly
in the evening.
