Old houses are so common in this city that we usually don't pay attention to them, but to interior designer Hsiao Kuang-chih they are ideal candidates for transformation into "green" buildings. Situated near the Meichuan Greenway on MinQuan Road, Hsiao's 252 Cafe is like an oasis in a concrete desert that sooths the spirits of anyone stepping through its doors.
The dining spaces, including bar and indoor/outdoor areas, are decorated with prints of famous paintings that the owner changes regularly. Diners love to sit in the outdoor area, enjoying a cup of slightly-bitter Salvador Santa Teresa Pakamark coffee or a smooth Iced Coffee Latte with a lovely breeze and beautiful birdsong wafting by. If you're looking for a light meal, the owner recommends the Club Sandwich, packed with vegetables, or the hearty Pocket Bread.
For a real meal, 252 Cafe offers a nicely-made Cream Seafood Spaghetti and the coffee shop also has grilled dishes after 8:30 p.m.
