One of Taiwan's hottest coffee house chains, IS Coffee, has come to Taichung. The new outlet, highly visible at its location on the corner of Taichung Harbor and Chungming South roads (in the Ruth's Chris building), is the 24th IS (Italian Style) cafe on the island and has a very attractive interior with plenty of seating and smoking/non-smoking sections, plus an entire bakery selling cakes, muffins and other pastries. All coffees, hot or iced, are under NT$100 and include just about every variety one could want. All beans are custom-roasted at IS' own coffee plant in Taoyuan and available for take-home, as are coffee mugs and accessories. The cafe also offeres six types of gelato (Italian ice cream) and simple NT$180 lunch and dinner deals. Free cake or gelato is being offered with coffees through the end of October.
