International award-winning pastry chef Chen Li-che, whose winning creations resemble modern art masterpieces more than edible desserts, brings his unrestrained dessert concepts to Taichung gourmands. The shop’s white walls, marbled counters and gold piping create a comfortable modern art gallery and cafe vibe, showcasing each customer’s beautiful desserts and pleasing the stomach and eyes. Some striking art-like treats include the Lemon Drop Cake (NT$180), Black Forest Torte (NT$180) and the towering Mixed Nuts Choco Mousse (NT$180). Those wanting to sample multiple items can try the Whale desserts (NT$100)–small, meticulously-crafted delights in flavors such as Earl Grey Almond Chocolate, Sea Salt Banana Peanut Chocolate, Rose Champagne Chocolate and Passion Fruit Jasmine Chocolate. Less experimental, but no less delicious, options include the Lemon Tart (NT$70), Strawberry Danish (NT$85), Cinnamon Brioche Rolls (NT$75) and Apple Croissant (NT$75). Coffees and teas (NT$100-160) are also available.
