Hidden down an alley near the Taiwan Sugar Corporation, this single-story, wooden beamed beer house is located in what used to be a governor's house. The 50-year-old building originally consisted of three separate units which are now joined seamlessly together to create a large, traditional beer hall space. It serves a large range of Taiwanese, Chinese and Japanese dishes plus a couple of Western-style beer snacks. The menu is conveniently set out in Mandarin, Japanese and English. Main courses start from NT$250 and side dishes from NT$100. A selection of Chinese teas is available for NT$150 upwards. The highlight of the drinks menu is the selection of over 100 cocktails set out under intriguingly quirky headings such as Joyful Cocktails, Lover's Cocktails, Ladies Cocktails, Baron Men Cocktails and Lewd Human Cocktails. Draft beers come in at a respectable NT$130 for 500cc or NT$250 for 1000cc. A good selection of spirits is available. This is an excellent place to take groups of friends or foreign visitors for a few beers.
