Run by well-known fashion designer Isabelle Wen, Butterfly is the newest restaurant connected with this famous local designer. A modern-looking restaurant with a lounge feel to it, Butterfly offers Sichuan-style cuisine and a good selection of tasty beverages. --By Josie Wu, translated by Ann Lee

A. A mix of East and West, the decor at Butterfly has a mystical aura; purple and brown colored ballad yarns hang in different corners of the room, accenting the iron tables that were built by local artisans. Its antique sofas, vanities, chandelier glass bowls, Chinese and western-style paintings and Taiwanese-style vine chairs create a glamorous but low-key ambiance. A large, Beatles mural can be seen through their oval window, as well.

B&C. The menu items at Butterfly include family dishes that Wen's father used to make at home; they include Sichuan Fried Cuttlefish and Shredded Pork, Steamed Grass Fish Head Topped with Preserved Chili, and Two Kinds of Cured Meat with Leeks and SiChuan Dan Dan Noodles. Other dishes worth trying are Minced Pork stuffed in Whole Chili Peppers (NT$320), Sichuan Bamboo Shoots (NT$220) and Poached Chicken in Special Chili Pepper Sauce (NT$320).
