The Japanese-style exterior of this shop encases a cozy interior decorated with chalk-drawn wall murals. Here diners can savor a variety of grilled dishes, Japanese oden delicacies, braised meat over rice, and noodles. Rarely-encountered Paiyun tribal specialty “Ah-Bai”, made from millet, is also available. All these are creations of the chef, who mixes creative culinary methods with high-end ingredients to make shop specialties like grilled meat with fresh tomatoes, apples and lettuce. Other scrumptious treats include Grilled Pork and Cheese (NT$39), Beef and Tomatoes (NT$39) and Grilled Beef Mochi (NT$39). The Japanese oden soup base here is prepared from vegetables, clams, dried bonito and seaweed. Wanbadan Dry Noodles (NT$49) is seasoned with dark vinegar and basil-flavored chewy meat balls, while Lu Xiao Fan (NT$39), or Braised Pork over Rice, features a creative sauce seasoned with plum juice. –By Ann Li Translated by Anna Yang
