SPLENDOR COFFEE

This cafe bakery represents an all-new direction for the Grand Formosa Taichung Hotel, which runs the entire operation. Located in Sogo’s basement food court, this place features a variety of hot and iced coffees (NT$100-200), including espresso, cappuccino and latte, herbal teas (NT$100) and frappes (NT$120). Coffee is the excellent illy brand from Italy. As part of a younger, fresh image, Splendor features funky-looking imported mugs sporting tattoo-like designs and pierced by a body ring. Edibles include reasonably-priced calzone (NT$120), lasagne (NT$100), salads, and desserts, like tiramisu. The bakery section has a rich selection of fresh-made breads and pastries, such as scones and fig, Bierbezel soda, sour dough, American rye and multicereal breads. After 7 p.m., all are available for buy-two-get-one-free deals.
