From our archives, Compass Magazine, Mar. 2002:
This attractive teahouse/restaurant opened recently in the basement of Tiger City mall and the fourth establishment of its kind for Taiwan’s largest tea company, Ten Ren’s Tea. Looking out onto a sunken outdoor square on the mall’s B1-level, Cha for Tea features glass walls, classy-looking seating areas and ancient Chinese character decorative motifs, making it a relaxing, upscale experience. All this highlights a very extensive Chinese/English menu of tea-based drinks, snacks and meals that are tasty and well-presented. For reasonable prices, one can order traditional teas (oolong, jasmine, etc.), hot and iced milk teas, fruit teas, icees, health teas (“cha for healing”), rice teas and even Tibetan tea. For food, there are dim sum-style hot tea snacks (from NT$80), from fresh tea leaf tempura to green tea mango mousse. Set tea meals–including noodles, fish dishes and Indian dishes–average NT$220 while individual dishes are as cheap as NT$80.
