Java Caravali Coffee

From our archives, Compass Magazine, Dec. 2001:

If you have ever visited Eslite Books’ Chung Yo branch, you will have come across this coffee shop. In fact, many people refer to it as the Eslite Coffee Shop, but its real name is Java Caravali Coffee. Tall, metal chairs are neatly arranged around a rectangular-shaped bar. High tables and chairs radiate out from the bar with the most popular seats being next to the mirrored wall, where people can glance at their reflections or inconspicuously monitor the doorway. The most popular item here is the cappuccino (NT$80) with the milk foam shaped in the form of a leaf. But, if the cold weather has made you long for summer, try the very tasty fruit tea ices or Tahitian iced tea (NT$80). The current afternoon tea special includes cappuccino and plain waffle for NT$150 and is highly recommended by this writer.

10F, “C” Building, Chung Yo Dept. Store (next to Eslite Books) 161, San Min Rd., sec. 3
Hours: 11 am-10 pm
