This relaxing cafe is a Taichung pioneer for very healthy sourdough, gluten-free, and very low-carbohydrate ketogenic breads and other products, introducing many locals to such items for the first time. Founder and southern California native Tim Lee offers neurofeedback brain training and personal coaching upstairs and says that his fare represents the nutritional component to a healthy brain and body. The 10-plus breads here include genuine sourdough loaves and bagels (NT$60-65), made over 30 hours with French flour, water, salt and self-grown starter, which breaks down potential allergens, gluten and sugars in the wheat. While sourdough flavors might be a bit alien for some Taiwanese customers, they tend to enjoy the softer, gluten-free breads. Among ketogenic items are breads, cakes, desserts, ice cream and “Bulletproof” tea and hand-poured coffee (NT$160), made self-roasted beans, grass-fed butter and healthy Medium Chain Triglyceride (MCT) oil. Low-carb Quiche (NT$70 half, NT$120 full) and panini sandwiches (like NT$160 Chicken Pesto) are good light meals. There are also regular coffees/teas (NT$60-120) and very tasty frosted and non-frosted Cinnamon Rolls (NT$100).
