Fu Shui An

From our archives, Compass Magazine, Mar. 2002:

Wu Chang Street, located near China Medical College, is home to a number of teahouses. With so many alluring signs and storefronts, it may be difficult to decide on a place. One of the attractions of Fu Shui An is the row of vanilla bushes outside. The fragrant smell of vanilla and the colorful pots are quite alluring. If you enter at lunch time, don’t be surprised to see a crowd. Fu Shui An serves business set lunches for the very reasonable price of NT$99. There is an extensive drink menu with items like the combination vanilla tea (NT$120). This is a sweet, tangy blend of herbs, such as rose, chrysanthemum, peppermint and, of course, vanilla. The owner uses vanilla, not only from the shrubs outside, but also from his family’s vanilla farm in Puli, Nantou. Other vanilla-based selections include vanilla cookies and cake, as well as lavender chicken, rosemary salmon, and Oregon beef with vanilla (NT$200).
