PAPA’S

From our archives, Compass Magazine, May. 2002:

In an area with an abundance of interesting, high-end, artistic shops, teahouses and coffee shops, there is a surprising lack of good dining options. However, with the addition of Papa’s, Art Street now has an attractive dedicated Western dining destination. Founded by Compass nightlife writer Patrick “Paddy Boy” Coulter and Darin “Naked Darin” Nichols, this restaurant also acts as a gallery, featuring works by local and locally-based artists. Even better, under the direction of head chef Mack Dawson, Papa’s serves up pizzas with handmade dough (NT$150-310) in the style of Italy’s Bari region, pasta dishes (NT$130-240) and much more, all at reasonable prices and of good quality. True to the street, teas and coffees are also available, including Papa’s special Greek coffee (NT$100). A Heineken will set you back only NT$100 and their house wines are NT$150. To get there, go up Art Street and turn right at the Circle K convenience store.
