Cafe Laurel

From our archives, Compass Magazine, Feb. 2002

The Evergreen Laurel Hotel’s first-floor Western buffet restaurant, Cafe Laurel, recently re-opened after an impressive renovation that, among other things, has made it into an Italian eatery. Diners will enjoy the fact that an Italian dinner buffet is now offered (6-9 pm, NT$690+10%), featuring a pasta bar, salads, appetizers, pizza and desserts, including ice cream, panna cotta, tiramisu and other treats. Everything is freshly prepared in a new open kitchen. Buffets for breakfast (6:30-10:30 am, NT$390 + 10%) and lunch remain the same as before, offering a good selection of mostly-Western dishes. The lunch and tea time buffet has been combined into a ‘super tea buffet’ (12 noon-4:30 pm) that costs NT$450+10% on weekdays and NT$510 net on weekends. For any time, including late-night dining, the restaurant still also has an a la carte menu with items like the very popular teriyaki rice.
