Marriott International–the world’s largest hotel chain–has entered the Taichung market with this 131-room hotel, occupying an attractive building on the corner of XiTun and HuanZhong roads. Under the guidance of General Manager Dario Congera, this “select service” four-star residence is the first Fairfield hotel in Taiwan and offers quality accommodations for reasonable prices, including 26-square-meter Superior Rooms (weekday NT$3,200+10% “best available rate”; add NT$800 weekends) and larger Deluxe Rooms and 45-square-meter Junior Suites. Trimmed in light, natural-feeling wood, rooms feature Simmons bedding, large shower stalls, high ceilings, 55-inch TVs and convenient bedside USB charging ports. Guests get a buffet breakfast in The Dining Room restaurant, which offers a la cart eastern/western selections–from pizza, pasta and steaks to beef noodles and dumplings–plus alcoholic/non-alcoholic drinks. Other facilities include The Market, offering food and daily necessities via vending machines, a 24-hour gym, meeting room and basement parking.
