One of Taiwan’s best-known craft breweries now has a second Taichung branch near the WenXin-ChongDe intersection. What sets this establishment apart is its interior layout, with seats for about 60 at the bar, tables and a cozy upstairs area, plus an extensive dining menu. This includes a variety of filling meat/seafood dishes–from Italian-Style Fried Chicken (NT$300) to Crispy Bass with Salsa Sauce (NT$380)–as well as risotto and pasta dishes (NT$250-300), salads, meat pies, grilled dishes and fried finger food. Customers can enjoy 24 of Zhangmen’s excellent craft beers (NT$200-250 350ml, NT$280-350 500ml) on tap. All are numbered and note alcoholic percentage and International Bitterness Units (IBU). Beers nos. 1 to 10 are standard selections found at all Zhangmen branches and include various IPAs and stouts, while nos. 11 to 24 change regularly and include special seasonal beers. A six-beer flight (original price NT$600, now special offer NT$480) is a good way to sample the selection.
