Frangipani grows in front of this white western-style house, on an alley behind Chung Yo Department Store, and trees shade the tables on sunny days, creating a charming, romantic ambiance. The chef’s focus is on Japanese-meets-western cuisine made-to-order with fresh ingredients. The a la carte entrees can be upgraded to set meals with yogurt, fresh salad, side dish and dessert. The Grilled Rice Ball (NT$188, set NT$288) is offered with Deep-Fried Chicken with Roe, Japanese Mackerel, and Vegetable options. Braised Pork Ball (NT$218) is cooked with local ingredients like Chinese water chestnuts, ground pork and Chinese cabbage, and its sauce complements rice nicely. Other dishes include Vegetable with Grilled Striped Bass Filet (NT$218), Grilled Spiced Chicken Filet (NT$188), and the very appetizing Spicy Minced Meat in Crisp Wrap (NT$188). Specialty coffees, teas and soft drinks are available. There’s also a fully-equipped DIY baking classroom to conveniently teach customers how to make cute-looking pastries, using tablet-computer lessons and assistance staff.
