Although this Hakka restaurant uses Western style interior decor, it definitely serves traditional, genuine Hakka cuisine. The chef has been in the dinning business for nearly 20 years and eight years ago decided to devote his culinary talent to dishes from his own Hakka background. Besides the traditional dishes, such as Hakka intestine ($160 NT), rice noodles ($90 NT) and Hakka chicken in oil sauce ($200 NT), this restaurant also serves a variety of fish dishes. Some of these include smoked fish in soy sauce and shredded ginger sauce, as well as fish cooked in pineapple sauce. Rarely served elsewhere, the A-Po vegetable dish is a Hakka specialty made with tofu and black bean simmered in pork fat. They also a special offer for lunch on weekdays – four dishes, a soup and complimentary appetizers for only $399 NT (serves 2-3). Jie Di Hakka Restaurant is clean, non-smoking and they even offer free dessert!
