Mei Nung Hakka Restaurant

From our archives, Compass Magazine, Aug. 2002:

By Ni-Ang Chen Translated by Patricia Li

Mei Nung boasts of having many unique dishes, such as stewed pig intestines along with cabbage and ginger dipped in a finely ground garlic sauce ($120 NT). Furthermore, the Hakka-style cauliflower ($60 NT), slowly simmered in a clay pot, is another specialty. There is also the Hakka salted pork ($90 NT) and Hakka sausage made with lean pork ($90 NT). In addition, Mei Nung also serves bamboo pork ($80 NT) and Hakka pig’s feet, which are the customer¡¦s favorites. Finally, a pot of the thirst-quenching osthmanthus and plum tea is perfect on a sizzling summer day. The owner is dedicated to serving the best Hakka cuisine around and is more than willing to challenge other Hakka restaurants on this!
