The Uptowner

After five years in the same spot, this popular American diner-style restaurant has relocated nearby to slightly-larger, two-floor premises on the corner of ZhongMei and ChangChun streets, opposite Zhongmei Park. The first floor has a long bar plus covered open-air tables; the second floor has tables and booths. Twin Cities natives Ben Tucheny and Kyle McCarty continue to offer an extensive, slightly-expanded selection of authentic American fare, including five Signature Breakfasts (NT$295-310), from “The Cajun” to “The Memphis”; six versions of Eggs Benedict (NT$260-310) like the “Florentine Benny” and “German Benny”; five Breakfast Combos; and seven omelettes (NT$265-350) plus a build-your-own omelette. There is also oatmeal, pancakes, French toast, Belgian waffles, Uptowner Chili, soups, salads, and a wide range of sandwiches, burgers and melts, plus vegetarian and kids’ meals. Drinks include bottled/draft beers (from NT$120/500cc), cocktails and wine. With four screens on each floor, Uptowner is also one of the city’s top spots for watching live sports (requests are welcomed).
