Well-known 1924 Shanghai restaurant’s first floor has been transformed into this very atmospheric Old Shanghai-themed bar. With some inspiration from “The Great Gatsby”, the warmly-lit atmosphere convincingly evokes 1920s-30s Shanghai with old photos, red curtains, hanging gold balls, feather boas, lots of dark wood, old-style jazz, and a variety of seating, including tall bistro tables, leather-upholstered booths, marble-topped tables and a bar. The drink selection includes various whiskies, champagnes, a dozen premium cocktails (NT$250-350), like a Moscow Mule made with real New Zealand ginger beer, and standard cocktails (from NT$150). About a dozen local/imported bottled beers (NT$150-250) range from Italian Poretti to local Taihu and 3 Giants craft brews. Customers can enjoy 1924 Shanghai’s full family-style Shanghainese dining menu till 9 p.m. and a variety of smaller western and Asian salads, entrees and appetizers from 9 to 11:30 p.m. In addition to weekly specials like Sunday Cocktail Nights, there is live music Wednesdays 7-8 p.m. and later most Saturday evenings.
