Customers order off a wall-mounted menu at this Xinjiang-style grill eatery, situated near the intersection with XingZhong Street, and can sit inside or outside on wooden tables and chairs. Barrels outside are filled with live fish and Thai shrimp, and there are plenty of skewers in the fridge.
The owner flavors his dishes with many natural spices and one exotic option is Xinjiang Cumin Flavored Grill. Xinjiang Chicken (NT$600) is prepared with chicken wings and legs, boiled herbs, anise, cardamom, bay leaves and other natural flavorings, mixed with tomatoes, sweet peppers and potatoes. The fresh chicken broth, served with sliced noodles, promises to satisfy your appetite.
There are plenty of live-seafood, grilled and Sichuan dishes on the menu, plus lamb kebabs. Featuring aromatic, spicy, juicy and tender fish, Sichuan Flavored Grilled Fish (NT$780) is prepared with fresh grouper and ingredients such as various chili peppers, black fungus, lotus slices, bean sprouts and coriander. Another crispy, not-to-be-missed grilled in-house specialty, Spring Roll Grilled Kebabs (NT$20-80), includes Cumin Flavored Lamb, Beef, Scallion, and Chive varieties. Herbal Chicken with Japanese Yam (small size for NT$450/large for NT$800) is prepared with Angelica sinensis, Japanese yam and chicken. –By Niang Chen Translated by Anna Yang
