Opened by the trio of Minnesotans who run The Uptowner, this American-style sports bar directly opposite SOGO is a big, much-needed addition to Taichung’s nightlife scene. Customers can watch a variety of live sports on multiple screens, play pool or darts, and enjoy food and drinks on the spacious first and second floors, both equipped with bars offering six on-tap beers (NT$140-190), from Guinness to Taihu craft beers, a dozen bottled beers (from NT$120), cocktails and other alcohol. Daily 6-9 p.m. Happy Hours offer NT$100 drink specials and free pool games and each day features something special, from “Birthday Tuesdays” and Wednesday Ladies Nights to DJs and live music. Food choices include several burgers (NT$290-450) named after famed American gangsters like the “Capone”, “Dillinger” and “Bugsy”, a Pulled Pork Sandwich (NT$310), hot dogs, and appetizers such as the popular Homemade Chicken Tenders (NT$260), wings in various flavors, and Deep Fried Pickles (NT$220), an American southern specialty. –By Douglas Habecker Translated by Anna Yang
