Determined to open Taichung’s most authentic Singapore-Malaysian restaurant, the Taiwanese-Singaporean duo who run this attractive little eatery offer a full range of classic dishes pairing fresh local produce with imported ingredients, from Singapore white pepper and laksa spices to even the soy sauce. Various options of famed favorites like Hainanese Chicken Rice (NT$180-220), Laksa Noodle Soup (NT$280), Bak Kut Teh soup (NT$200), beef or chicken satay (NT$180-200) and Kaya Toast with Soft-Boiled Egg are offered. Deep-Fried Bun (NT$80) and Pandan Cake are among desserts and NT$70 drinks include Rose Syrup and Malaysian Milk Tea. To sample everything, try the two-person (NT$599-699), three-person (NT$1,199-1,399) and 4-person (NT$1,999) multi-course set meals. Daily-changing 11 a.m.-5 p.m. NT$179 lunch specials pair a classic main course with sides, and there are six NT$120 delivery/take-out bento box offers, from Classic Hainanese Chicken to White Pepper Soup with Noodles. The second-floor seating area surrounds 30-40 diners in a relaxing tropical-style ambiance.
