Coconut World is among the higher-end dining establishments along Taichung’s “restaurant road”, GongYi Road, and offers Coconut Chicken and other healthy hotpots that originate in China’s Guangzhou and Hainan. The 1,984-square-meter stand-alone building has seating for 200 in spacious dining areas filled in every corner with romantic Southeast Asian decor. There are also six private dining rooms (available with minimum charges) of various sizes, plus valet parking.
The top recommendation here is the above-mentioned Coconut Chicken hotpot, prepared with the locally-famous Ban Tien Shui brand coconut water imported from Thailand and a soup base prepared with fresh coconuts, bamboo fungus and free-range chickens, offering aromatic, savory flavors that are perfect for summertime enjoyment. Other choices include Laksa Hotpot, Coconut Milk Hotpot, Thai Sour and Spicy Hotpot, and Vegetarian Mushroom Hotpot, with combination hotpots also being available.
