This Japanese restaurant actually began life as a night market vendor before opening its first branch on MeiChuan East Road in 2014. Since then, it has earned a strong reputation and customer following for reasonably-priced, quality cuisine and attentive service.
This particular branch is similar to the original store, offering delicately-made Japanese cuisine, with the only difference being added stoves on each white dining table to provide the additional option of a Japanese-style hot pot (from NT$328). Other recommended dishes here include the popular and fresh High-end Seafood Donburi (NT$680), prepared with six kinds of raw fish, salmon roe, Argentina red shrimp, abalone, sea urchin, snow crab and Hokkaido scallops. This donburi delicacy, highlighted by savory fresh scallops and sea urchins infused tropical fruit aromas, is a real palate pleaser.
The Yuge Set Meal for two people (NT$1,980) features pan-fried Boston lobster (pulled from the restaurant’s seafood tank), grilled scallops, flounder, salmon, Angus beef, premium sashimi, Japanese-style salad, steamed egg, and fish miso soup. The sushi roll is generously filled with fresh seafood and the salad with specialty sauce is particularly delicious. A la carte sushi roll (from NT$50) and donburi (from NT$150) are also available.
If it happens to be your birthday month, a sizable Grilled Salmon Sushi Bowl can be savored here for free and offers an abundance of mashed tuna and grilled salmon.
